Mardi Gras … Fat Tuesday is today. Fat Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday. It is also known as Mardi Gras Day.
People eat all they want of everything and anything they want as the following day is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Fat Tuesday is a celebration and the opportunity to enjoy that favorite food or snack that you give up for Lent.
I’ve been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras a few times. Everyone should experience the festivities at least once in their lifetime. Good food, lotsa parties, costumes, masks, parades, craziness, beads galore, and a great time to people watch!
Don’t forget to get some Beignets at:
The Original French Market Coffee Stand Since 1862 • New Orleans, Louisiana.
The original menu only has a few items: dark roasted Coffee and Chicory, Beignets, White and Chocolate Milk, and fresh squeezed Orange Juice. The coffee is served Black or Au Lait. Beignets are square French style fried doughnuts, covered with powdered sugar. Added in 1988 iced coffee & soft drinks.
I purchased these plaques, at two different visits, in the French Quarter. The slates are suppose to be authentic over 200 year old roofing slates from the French Quarter.
